POÉ BEACH

Poé Beach, Bourail

The clearest base for lagoon time, swimming and a slower day on Bourail’s coast.

Turquoise lagoon beside the Poé and Déva coast

What is Poé Beach?

Poé is Bourail’s main general swimming and lagoon-activity area. The long lagoon-side setting is better understood as a natural coastal zone than a dense resort strip.

It suits travellers who want swimming, family lagoon time, paddling, kitesurfing, windsurfing or simply space beside the water.

Why choose Poé?

Choose Poé when the lagoon is the centre of the trip. It is calmer in character than Roche Percée and puts you near Domaine de Déva’s outdoor activities.

The trade-off: accommodation and services are spread out. A Poé address does not guarantee that meals, equipment hire or every activity are walkable.

Plan your visit

Allow at least a half-day if you only want the beach and lagoon. Set aside a full day if you are arranging a guided snorkelling trip, rental activity or combining Poé with Déva.

Conditions affect lagoon activities. Confirm equipment, meeting place and the operator’s requirements before travelling. Dogs are prohibited in the protected Poé area.

Which Poé activity fits your day?

Snorkelling, reef and turtle outings

Choose a guided outing when seeing the reef or turtles is the main purpose of the visit. Ouest Corail lists short glass-bottom boat trips, guided snorkelling and longer reef-focused options. The dry boat experience suits mixed groups; guided snorkelling requires confidence in the water and following the operator’s conditions.

Keep a morning or afternoon flexible, book ahead for a specific departure and confirm whether equipment is supplied. Wildlife is observed, not guaranteed.

Kayak, paddleboard and family water hire

Poé Fun Loc lists kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats, windsurf boards and other equipment. Blue Pearl also lists kayak and paddle hire. This is the simplest flexible option for a settled-weather lagoon day, but it is not a substitute for instruction when conditions or equipment are unfamiliar.

Ask about the safe operating area, wind and return time before leaving shore. Bring sun protection, water and a dry way to secure essentials.

Kitesurfing and windsurfing

Poé’s open lagoon is used for both sports. They suit people who already understand wind, launch space and right-of-way rules. No current specialist beginner-school offer has been verified for this edition, so novice travellers should confirm instruction separately rather than arriving on the assumption that lessons are available.

If the weather does not cooperate

Use Poé as a beach stop, move inland to one suitable Déva route, or save the booked water activity for another day. Do not replace a cancelled operator-led outing with an unfamiliar self-guided route.

What is nearby?

Domaine de Déva is the natural companion to Poé for trails, cycling, horse riding, views and golf. Île Verte is a protected islet reached through arranged excursions rather than a casual walk-in stop.

For a first visit, combine Poé with Déva on one day and leave Roche Percée and the Three Bays coast for another.
