Getting to Bourail and getting around

Airport or Nouméa: know your starting point

La Tontouta International Airport and central Nouméa are different starting points. Official tourism information places Bourail’s coast about 117 km from the airport and 162 km from central Nouméa, with an approximate two-hour drive from Nouméa via the RT1.

Use your actual collection point and accommodation address when comparing car hire or transfers. Leave extra time for stops, road conditions and an unfamiliar route.

Travelling with a car

A rental car offers flexibility when combining the town, coast and Déva. Before booking, check collection and return locations, insurance terms, luggage space and the driving conditions relevant to your route.

Leave margin between your arrival and a paid activity. Download the details of your accommodation and directions before departure.

Travelling without a car

Arrange the essential journeys before committing to a property: arrival, departure, meals where needed and activity pick-ups. Bourail Shuttle Service currently lists shared and private transfers between Bourail, Nouméa and La Tontouta airport; confirm your exact address and timetable before booking.

RAÏ also runs a regular intercity coach line between Nouméa and Bourail. It can cover the journey between the towns, but it does not solve onward transport around Poé, Déva and other dispersed sights. Check the current official timetable before planning around it.

Choose fewer bases and fewer separate activities if transport is limited. Do not assume an intercity service will also cover the final journey to a coastal property.

Getting between places

Poé, Déva and Roche Percée should be planned as distinct stops. Group nearby activities, check the return journey and keep weather-dependent plans flexible.
